Sumitomo Electric Receives a METI Minister’s Prize in the FY2014 Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle Promotion Merit Awards Program

We are proud to announce that we have received a Minister’s Prize from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) in the FY2014 Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle Promotion Merit Awards Program, hosted by the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle Promotion Council.

Established in 1992, this award program aims to recognize individuals and groups that take the initiative in promoting the so-called “3Rs” (reduce the generation of waste, reuse materials, and recycle materials) in order to help create a recycling-oriented society, and that demonstrate outstanding results through their continuous activities.

Since FY 2003, in striving to contribute to the prevention of global warming, save resources, and promote recycling, Sumitomo Electric has been working on the 3Rs based on our quantitative targets (Action ECO-21 Campaign) covering the entire Sumitomo Electric Group including our overseas bases. We have received the above prize in recognition of our global 3R promotion activities carried out throughout the Sumitomo Electric Group based on the campaign.
