Striving to contribute to developing human resources and promoting academic activities in various fields both in Japan and overseas, the SEI Group CSR Foundation* is engaged in “monetary contributions to university courses,” “support for academic and research activities,” and “granting of scholarships to students both in Japan and overseas.”
As for this fiscal year’s “monetary contributions to university courses,” we focused on support for reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake. In this regard, we invited applications from university courses related to research that will aid the reconstruction from the disaster, such as that on countermeasures against natural disasters, energy issues, and support for affected areas. We newly selected the following two courses: Kobe University’s research course on tsunami marine hazards, and Hitotsubashi University’s course on environmental laws and policies toward reconstruction from the earthquake disaster and the nuclear power plant accident. Additionally, we decided to continue to provide donations to Osaka University’s course on the implementation of a problem-solution oriented machine engineering education to develop human resources for manufacturing practice in the next generation. On February 14, a ceremony was held to present donations to each of the three university courses.
