Established as Electronic Wire Department inside Yokohama Date Transmission Cable Department.

Opened Kanto Electronic Wire Plant. Started production of irradiated electric wires and VTR wiring harnesses.

Closed Yokohama Electronic Wire Plant and moved to Kanto Plant.

Established Sumitomo(SEI)Electronic Wire,Inc., by consolidating the Electric Wire Dept. of the Elecctronic Wire Div.,Touhoku SEI Co.,Ltd., and Kanto Sumiden Electronic Wire, Ltd.

Established Sumitomo Electric Flat Components, Inc.,to take over operations from the FC Dept. of the Electronic Wire Div.

Started production of heat-resistant cables for automobiles in SEPM.

Started producing Tab Lead in China, SESH.

SEIW and SEFT which are domestic manufacturing bases in Japan are merged (the surviving company is SEIW).
