Infocommunications and Social Infrastructure Systems R&D Center
We are developing both optical and wireless communication technologies to support highspeed broadband communications, as well as IoT (Internet of Things) technologies to support social infrastructures such as ADAS(Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) by using telematics, overseas traffic management systems, and industrial services- sensing, wireless communications, management software solutions, and so on. We are also working on the development of fundamental technologies for cyber security and big data analysis as core technologies.
High-speed optical access system
By the combination of our optical components and system technologies, we are developing 10G-EPON* technologies to achieve 10Gbps high-speed optical access. By the integration of wide-spreading 1Gbps branch type optical fiber networks and 10G-EPON, it enables the speeding-up of access networks by ten times economically.
Wireless access units and modules
Based on our high-efficiency amplifier, antenna and signal processing technologies for high-frequency bands, we are developing Radio access units and modules for the radio infrastructure market requiring high-speed, high-capacity communications. In addition to our commercialized Remote Radio Heads and high-efficiency wireless modules, we are promoting the development of active antenna systems expected for 5G communications.
Ultra-high-definition video technology
4K/8K ultra-high-definition image technologies are expected for the wide use of television broadcasting in 2020, the wide applications to medical care, disaster prevention, and so on. We are developing its high-capacity signal compression-expansion / transmission and application technologies to provide a good balance between high reliability and economic efficiency.
Global ITS and telematics
To contribute to safe & secured, ecofriendly global traffic societies, we are developing ITS/Telematics technologies, which include advanced traffic management through signal control using probe car information such as vehicle’s position and speed, autonomous driving support by providing look-ahead information generated with artificial intelligence technology, as well as surrounding incident detection by moving object detection technology.
Factory IoT network system
IoT technologies to collect and analyze data by connecting multiple sensors and devices to a network have received attention recently and are increasingly applied to the manufacturing sector. However, the problem is installation cost arising from wiring work and layout change.
We develop a sensor network solution by the low energy radio technology to operate a system easily and reasonably, in the manufacturing sector. It applies to services such as preventive diagnosis in case of equipment failure.
IoT core technologies
In various fields (i.e. manufacturing, mobility, energy and infrastructure sectors), the introduction of IoT is increasing. On the other hand, the threat of cyber attack is increasing, too. For the development of "IoT system" or "Cyber physical system", we are working on the R&D of the cyber security technology, big data analysis, and the cloud network construction technology.
