Group Company of the Month: SEEL

The forerunner of the Italy Branch of Sumitomo Electric Europe, Ltd. (SEEL) was Eudyna Device International s.r.l, established as the base in Europe for Eudyna Devices Inc. In 2009, the company was reorganized as the Italy Branch of SEEL. On top of handling technological issues regarding laser products for optical communications and wireless devices for mobile phone networks, and selling such items as in the past, in April 2014 the branch launched an electrical business, mainly handling products from J-Power Systems (JPS).

Engaged in sales activities not only in the info-communications field but also in the electrical field

The Italy Branch of SEEL is located in Milan. The city is not only the center of the fashion industry well known as the venue of the Milan Collection, but also where there are many facilities with pivotal functions of major telecommunications equipment manufacturers.

As a sales base of laser products for optical communications, device products for wireless communications, etc., we provide closer support with telecommunications equipment manufacturers, while expanding our sales channels throughout Europe, as well as in Russia and the Middle East.

This April we welcomed new members, thereby further accelerating our sales efforts not only in the existing info-communications field but also in the electrical field.

Simone Bozzi Pietra

Hello, I am Simone Bozzi Pietra, sales engineer.

I joined this company in October 2010. Under the excellent Sumitomo Business Spirit, I make utmost efforts to increase our sales. For the past three and a half years, I have shared many joys and sorrows with coworkers from Japan and the rest of the world, and now they are all my invaluable friends. Because of this feeling, I love my job and would like to work even harder.

Fiorella Sacchi

Hello. I am Fiorella Sacchi, operator.

Right after joining Eudyna in 2009, the company was reorganized. This experience has helped me improve my skills, and enabled me to get along with Japanese coworkers who support me.

I love Japan, and I often watch Japanese movies. I am also a fan of AC Milan, and I like reading and dancing in my spare time. In summer, I also like strolling around streets in Milan.

【Places of Interest】Italy, a Country with Respect for History and Tradition
Daily Greetings

I hear that people in Italy have a tradition of respecting their elders and that it’s common for them to seek advice from their parents at important points in their lives. Also, in their daily lives, greetings are important. At workplaces, in elevators, at shops, at supermarket cash registers, etc., people exchange greetings, whether they know each other or not, saying “Buon giorno” or “Ciao.” This is one attractive aspect of this country.

Italian Culture with Respect for Each Individual

There are no convenience stores, and almost all shops are closed on Sunday. Although this may make some Japanese people feel like it’s somewhat inconvenient to live in Italy, behind this inconvenience is a culture where new things are not highly valued simply because they are new, where people are calm, and where individuality is respected. I feel that I can learn a lot from this culture.

People in Italy truly love Italian cuisine. Fresh and simple dishes using vegetables and meats grown on fertile land with a moderate temperature match well with local wines.

Duomo di Milano

Duomo di Milano (Milan Cathedral) is the world’s largest gothic style structure, taken some 500 years to complete. The solemn structure will surely overwhelm visitors; they will never be disappointed.

Santa Maria delle Grazie

In this church in Milan, you can see The Last Supper, the famous masterpiece by Leonardo da Vinci.

Northern Italy is rich in nature, such as the magnificent Alps and the Dolomites with beautiful highlands, and is home to many streets with a long-established history and culture, such as the water capital Venice, the food capital of Parma, Verona with its numerous Roman remains, and Genoa, a maritime state in the medieval period.
