Providing support with the focus on human resource management to accommodate severe business environmental changes in the middle of the country’s economic development

Branch members in Shenzhen

SMS has headquarters in Shanghai in eastern China, and a branch in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province in southern China. We provide the Sumitomo Electric Group companies in China with business support in terms of legal affairs, accounting & personnel management, information systems, distribution, procurement, manufacturing technologies, safety control, analyses technologies, and many other aspects.

I was transferred to China in October 2012. After working in Changzhou, I was transferred to Shanghai in February 2013. My major responsibilities cover giving the group companies in China various advice (providing support regarding personnel management and helping solve personnel and labor problems, especially by offering support for group companies to accommodate system changes and legal revisions), as well as promoting human resource management measures in cooperation with the Sumitomo Electric’s HR & Administration Division.

Confronted with various difficulties, each group company in China is now forced to handle a tough business environment. Amidst this situation, I would like to promote a wide variety of efficient personnel management measures and provide support for each company to reinforce its human resource management capabilities. By providing support with the focus on human resource management, I would like to contribute to each company’s sustainable growth and development.

Pu Dong Hua

Pu Dong Hua

Hello, everyone. I’m Pu Dong Hua. In October 2005 I joined the subsidiary of Sumitomo Wiring Systems Ltd. in Shanghai, and in April 2009 I was transferred to the information systems division of the forerunner of SMS. My major responsibility is providing IT support (infrastructure, office automation, systems development, maintenance, and information security) for the Sumitomo Electric Group companies in China. I believe that the most important thing at work is securing good communication. I work very hard every day for the development of the group companies in China, as well as myself.

Ye Feng Qin

Ye Feng Qin

Since joining this company in 2011, I have been engaged mainly in supporting each group company’s VA activities and localization of material procurement. I’m still just a small “bud,” but thanks to support from many people, I’m now gradually developing myself from “0” to “1.” Last year, I had an opportunity to participate in a training program in Japan for about four months, which enabled me to learn a lot of things that I could not have gotten in Shanghai. A Chinese proverb goes that no matter how good you think you are, there is always someone out there who is better. As a member of the Sumitomo Electric Group, I would like to accommodate to changes, continue growing, and generate favorable results, thereby developing from a “bud” into “fruit.” Where there is a change, there is an opportunity!

【Places of Interest】Shanghai ? Heart of the Chinese Economy and Culture, and One of the World’s Largest Economic Cities
Shanghai

East Nanjing Road, Shanghai’s central street

Located in eastern China, Shanghai is a municipality directly under the central government, and one of the world’s largest economic cities. It is said that more than 24 million people live in the city. After foreign capital began flowing into China in the 19th century, the country’s economy started to grow, which has led to an increase in the number of foreigners staying in the country. It is estimated that, in China today, there are approximately 100,000 Japanese people, including those visiting on business. Although the climate is relatively moderate, it is sometimes scorching hot in summer, as well as sometimes chilly in winter. This often makes me miss Japan’s short but comfortable spring and autumn.

City with a Harmony of History and Development

Night view of the Bund

Experiencing the recent outstanding economic development and the 2010 Shanghai Expo, Shanghai is undergoing drastic changes on a daily basis, as indicated by the construction of ever more skyscrapers in the Pudong district. While featuring such a cutting-edge atmosphere, the city still has many traditional streets with an olden-days atmosphere just a short way from the city center, as well as many Western-style structures built when the city was administered as a settlement. Shanghai is a very attractive city with an excellent harmony of history and development.

What is a Symbol of China?

Adorable panda

Many people might feel that a symbol of China is pandas. If you want to see the adorable animal, you don’t have to go all the way to the countryside. You can see pandas here in Shanghai as well. At Shanghai Wild Animal Park, you can see approximately 200 varieties of animals, including rare species, such as pandas and white tigers. In addition, the park features acrobatic performances by various animals, which are sure to excite you and make you smile. However, to stroll around the park, which is extremely large, you need a lot of physical strength.
