The Wire Harness Technical Skill Olympics 2012 were held on July 6 at the Suzuka Circuit in Mie Prefecture to select the most technically proficient wire harness production worker out of 190,000 employees from 54 group companies manufacturing wire harnesses.
These Olympics have been held every year since 2003, and 132 workers, who won the tough preliminary rounds held around the world, participated in this year's competition from 14 countries in Asia, America, and Europe. Competitors, who were chosen in the astonishing proportion of one out of 1,500 persons, competed fiercely with the tension and excitement of a sporting event for a total of five wire harness manufacturing processes reproduced in a competition field.
In the team competition, Sumidenso Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Vietnam won the championship. Their victory impressed on us the dynamism of Vietnam, where enterprises from Japan and many other countries are setting up business operations.
The Sumitomo Wiring Systems Group will use the Technical Skill Olympics as an opportunity for employees with different cultures and customs to work hard toward the same goal of enhancing their technical skills, believing that this will have the effect of improving technical levels group-wide and enhancing the quality of our products.
