Sumitomo Electric Sintered Alloy Ltd. (OSS) received a 2011 Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare award, granted for excellent business establishments involved in national trade skill tests.
Having been actively participating in national trade skill tests since its foundation, OSS has produced a total of 305 nationally certified technicians in powder metallurgy, machining, maintenance skills and other areas. Meanwhile the company has contributed to organizing national trade skill tests by offering test venues and examiners. The award recognized these efforts.
In May 2009, OSS established the OSS Training Center to facilitate the training of employees to be skilled in setting up powder-metallurgy molding presses through the use of actual equipment, in addition to the conventional training programs. Experts train young OSS employees and trainees from overseas affiliated companies to acquire die-setting skills and expertise, with training programs ranging from lectures on mold mechanics to actual machine operations.
OSS will continue to develop excellent technicians and to contribute to further growth of the powder metallurgy business.
