Consolidation of Four Manufacturing Subsidiaries of Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd.

Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd. (SWS) has decided that it will consolidate the following four subsidiaries, which manufacture and sell automobile wiring harnesses and harness components: Tohoku Sumidenso, Ltd. (Nanyo, Yamagata Pref.), Kyohritsu Hiparts Co., Ltd. (Ichinoseki, Iwate Pref.), Kyohritsu Harness, Ltd. (Ichinoseki, Iwate Pref.), and Kanto Sumidenso, Ltd. (Oyama, Tochigi Pref.). These four subsidiaries will be merged on October 1 to form a new company called "SWS East Japan, Ltd."

The consolidation will enable SWS to use each company's personnel, technologies and resources in a more efficient, effective and flexible manner. This will help SWS clarify what it needs to do as a Japan-based "global mother," so as to further strengthen its manufacturing capabilities and enhance its human resources development.
