From the Foot of Mt. Fuji...Part 2

Hello! I'm Miyajima from Minami-Hakone Seminar House.
Last year, I wrote about Create Taiyo, a welfare service provider for disabled people. Let me tell you again about the facility.

We exhibit and sell Create Taiyo's items in an area right next to the front gate of the seminar house. After I introduced these items on this website last year, sales almost doubled. We were amazed at how influential the Smile Relay was! As we are engaged in supporting sales of their items, we are happy that many visitors to the seminar house actually purchased them.

And here's more surprising news! Last December, Create Taiyo donated to us an excellent bench they had made themselves as a token of their appreciation. The 135cm-wide bench has now been installed in the area next to the sales section at the seminar house. Many people sit on the bench while waiting for a taxi or just to relax. It is a really comfortable bench!

The donation ceremony was attended by the people who actually made the bench. They read the donation list out loud in unison. They must have practiced reading the list out loud many times. Thank you very much!

Create Taiyo donates a bench to one of their partner organizations every year to commemorate Disabilities Week. In 2011, we had the honor to be selected by them.

Under the Basic Act for Persons with Disabilities, Disabilities Week is designated as the week from December 3 to 9 every year (I'm ashamed to say that I didn't know which week...). As indicated on the website of the Cabinet Office of the Government of Japan, the basic principles of the Act are as follows: all persons with disabilities shall have the right to be respected for their individual dignity and be assured of a livelihood appropriate to that dignity; all persons with disabilities, as members of society, shall be provided opportunities to participate in all fields, including social, economic, and cultural fields; no one shall be allowed to discriminate against persons with disabilities or act in a way that will infringe their rights and benefits based on their disabilities. In accordance with these principles, Create Taiyo is engaged in outstanding work every day, with consideration given to each person's character. At the seminar house, we will continue to support Create Taiyo!

I have a favor to ask of the Sumitomo Electric Group. If you come to the Minami-Hakone Seminar House, please drop by the sales section for Create Taiyo's items in the area right next to the front gate. They have a wider variety of items with a new line-up. Also, please have a seat on our comfortable bench. We look forward to welcoming you! :-)
