Although utility-scale solar power plant has been regarded as maintenance-free, there is actually a high probability that certain problems cause power generation loss. The SSMAP™ is a PV string monitoring system that can exactly detect an abnormal status of solar power plant.

Product features

1. Communication over existing wires with Power Line Communication (PLC) technology

This system utilizes existing DC power cable as a communication cable without any additional wiring. Power to PLC unit is supplied from solar power.

2. Noise and Lightning Surge Resistant

Over 20 year experience of PLC development, our system offers high communication performance against power supply noise and is fully protected from lightning surges.

3. Easy Retrofit

This system is compatible with clamped current sensors. Sensors, slave units and the master unit can be added to an existing system without any modification to the existing solar generation facilities

Product applications

Current and voltage collection per string is carried out for each PCS. In the case of a 1 MW system, a sample structure is described below.

  1. A current sensor is installed for each PV string.
  2. Detected current and voltage values are captured by PLC slave unit inside an array box and these data are transmitted through power line.
  3. Data is collected in PLC master unit installed around PCS and transmitted to SCADA system via Internet, Modbus, etc.
