On October 26, I went to the Tokyo Motor Show.
I go to the event every time it is held, partly because I have been involved in the automobile industry for nearly 20 years, and also because I have a personal interest in cars.
After arriving at the venue, I first visited Sumitomo Electric's booth. What leaped to my eyes was a skeleton of a car body exhibited diagonally, allowing visitors to see our products and items that were used (or that might be used) inside a car.
While viewing our exhibits, I realized once again that by utilizing a wide variety of technologies, we develop and provide various automotive products and materials, such as not only wiring harnesses, but also magnesium alloy products, the next-generation central gateway using information and communications technology, ITS wireless equipment, and charging connectors.
Afterwards, I walked around the venue to view other companies' booths. As in past shows, I was very excited to see the future of automobiles again this year. I personally, however, felt that many of this year's exhibits were a little more practical than those in the past. There were many exhibits focusing on electrification, connected cars and autonomous driving, with few items that were beyond my imagination. This might imply that the technology once we dreamed of is coming to realization.
Anyway, as a supplier, we would like to continue to focus on technological development so that we can introduce many more technologies and products that will inspire your dreams and make you excited.
