POREFLON Microfiltration Membrane Module

Home > Job Opportunities > Interview with Employee: Kawabe

I pride myself on being a pioneer in business development.

When I was a university student, I majored in analytical chemistry. I worked for a water treatment company for some time and then joined Sumitomo Electric Fine Polymer, Inc. I am currently in charge of production engineering. Since POREFLON Membrane Module products are produced primarily in China, my everyday duties center around telephone and email communication. I visit the production site once every three months or so to improve and streamline production processes and reduce production waste to make the product more competitive.

Work is never easy, because each member is professional about their job. We communicate closely and have a sense of unity in promoting the project, across national boundaries between Japan and China. We exchange views frankly, based on a shared awareness that our goal is to create better products. This makes the pressure under which we are working very productive.

The project has completed its foundation to make a leap in growth. Now each member is required to play another important role. We must be able to have a sense of fulfillment as the business grows, with each member feeling that they are an indispensable part of the project, and are using their potential to the full.

In any field, only the person at the front is a pioneer. The project gives us that chance. I feel highly motivated at being given this rare opportunity.

Shinsuke Kawabe (fifth year of service; majored in engineering)
