Established in Thailand in February 1969 as an overseas manufacturing base for the Magnet Wire Division of Sumitomo Electric, the company launched production in the following year. As the first overseas manufacturing base of Sumitomo Electric, WIN-T will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2019. I was transferred to WIN-T in July 2011. As supervisor of the quality assurance and engineering divisions, I’m working very hard every day in Thailand to ensure that high-quality magnet wire is supplied to our customers.

The level of quality required by customers is rising year by year, while the level of difficulties we need to overcome is also increasing.

With this background, we are striving to establish a structure that enables our operations to be led by local staff and that enables high-quality products to be manufactured under their leadership, as well that such operations and production are maintained.

Delicious Thai Cuisine in Bangpoo, a Town of Crabs

Located in the Bangpoo Industrial Estate, Samutprakarn Province, adjoining the east side of Bangkok, we boast a convenient location – about one hour by car from the center of Bangkok and about 40 minutes from Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK). In addition, the company is near the mouth of the Chao Phraya, a river representing Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.

“Bangpoo” means a town of crabs. As the name suggests, the tidal areas of the Gulf of Thailand are inhabited by many crabs. Near the company are many seafood restaurants that command a panoramic view of the gulf. Served at these restaurants are Tom yam kung, Thai curry, khao phat (Thai-style fried rice), and many other Thai dishes popular even in Japan. Containing a lot of seafood, these dishes are very delicious but reasonably priced.

Mueang Boran – Ancient City Theme Park Featuring Replicas of Cultural Assets from across Thailand

The ancient city theme park Mueang Boran is located about 15 minutes by car from our company. Featuring replicas of cultural assets situated in remains, temples and other sites around Thailand, the theme park enables visitors to feel as if they were visiting many sightseeing destinations in the country all at once. In addition, this is a good place to learn about the history and old culture of Thailand. Since the theme park is 1.3 times larger than Tokyo Disney Resort, it takes a whole day to enjoy the facility fully.
