Mie Hydrogen Station LLC (hereinafter, MHS), an affiliate of Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd., of the Sumitomo Electric Group has begun operations. MHS is a joint company established in July 2015 by Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd., Japan Transcity Corporation, Mie Toyota Co., Ltd., and Taniguchi Oil Corporation to operate commercial hydrogen stations. MHS has now established and begun operations at its first two hydrogen stations in Mie Prefecture, in Yokkaichi City and Tsu City.

From May 26, 2016, the G7 Ise-Shima Summit Meeting is scheduled to be held in Mie Prefecture, in which environmental issues such as climate change and energy are on the main conference agenda. We will continue our efforts toward the creation of an environment-friendly society in the future and hope our efforts toward the realization of a hydrogen society, including the establishment of Mie Hydrogen Station, will contribute to the solution of environmental issues.

Finalist Team Award of FY2015 Corporate Track & Field Club of the Year Awards

Sumitomo Electric’s Track & Field Club won the Finalist Team Award at the award ceremony of the FY2015 Corporate Track & Field Club of the Year held on March 29, 2016, by the Japan Industrial Track & Field Association. The award recognized the performance of our club, including our overall victory in the Japan Corporate Championship . Encouraged by this award, all club members pledged their continued efforts for even better performance in the future.

On March 30, 2016, we were certified by Osaka City as a two-star leading company in the efforts to support women to demonstrate their fullest capabilities. We are recognized as a company that actively works towards creating an organization in which highly-motivated women can continue to demonstrate their fullest capabilities, and on providing support for them to strike the best balance between their careers and personal lives. We are also recognized as a company that has not only established appropriate systems but has also generated the desired results.

In addition, we have also been certified as an ikumen (father playing an active role in parenting) support company, which provides support for male staff members in participating in parenting, household chores, and community activities.
