Aiming to further invigorate our business by holding regular meetings to realize smooth cooperation among staff members speaking different languages

SEPM consists of a plant located in Johor Bahru, the city located in the southern tip of the Malaysia Peninsula on the other side of the Strait of Johor across from Singapore, and a sales office located in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur.

In Malaysia, which has a stable infrastructure environment, I work very hard every day together with multiethnic staff members, including Malaysians, Chinese, and Indians, in order to ensure a stable supply of electronic wire products and expand our business.

At the sales department, we not only strive to expand sales in Malaysia, but also to provide support for Sumitomo Electric Group’s bases located in more than 10 countries in the world, such as Southeast Asian countries, Western countries, and China. In addition, to enable smooth cooperation with staff members working in different countries using different languages and to contribute to developing their businesses, we hold multilateral meetings on a regular basis.

Japan’s national soccer team secured a place at the World Cup for the first time by winning a game in the Larkin Stadium. This facility is usually crowded with enthusiastic fans of the Johor Southern Tigers, the winner of last year’s Malaysian soccer league. The stadium is the team’s home ground. The day following their victory at the championship became a holiday on very short notice.

Friday as Holiday

Masjid
Masjid

In Malaysia, where Islam is the state religion, Muslims go to masjid (mosque) on Fridays, and offer prayers for longer than usual. Accordingly, in some states of the country, including Johor, Friday, instead of Sunday, is set as an official holiday. Although many private companies set Sunday as a holiday, government and municipal offices set Sunday as a business day. This applies to local schools as well. On Sundays, you can see children going to school on school buses.

Member of the Commonwealth of Nations

Malaysia is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. When you drive a car, for example, you must keep to the left. There are many other examples of British influence in this country. Meanwhile, tea production is prosperous in high-land areas, where arrays of British-style cottages are situated. Such areas attract many visitors who would like to enjoy afternoon tea, especially on holidays.
