Heat-shrinkable tube: Sumitube™

Sumitube™ is a heat-shrinkable tube used for a wide range of purposes including electric wire/harness connection, heat protection and insulation protection. In the aircraft industry, high heat resistance (200℃ max.) and chemical resistance (aircraft oil, etc.) are required for products depending on where they are used and the specific usage environment. To that end, Sumitube™, which has high heat resistance and chemical resistance with the electron beam cross-linking method using polyolefin, fluorinated polymer, and elastomer as the main materials, is used for protecting wires and connectors that are required to be covered.

Products for identification: SUMITAG™/SUMIMARK™

SUMITAG™/SUMIMARK™ is a printing system for identification of wires to be used for aircraft and rail vehicles. Identification is necessary for each configuration wire used for aircraft harnesses, which are required to have a high level of safety. Like Sumitube™, identification materials are also required to have sufficient heat and chemical resistance. Our printing system for identification and heat-shrinkable tubes have been utilized by aircraft manufacturers due to their reliability.

Sumitube™ STS is a wire connection part to connect wire and wire as well as wire and connector. It is waterproof and provides mechanical protection. Many customers have utilized Sumitube™ STS for aircraft harnesses due to its high heat resistance and chemical resistance, as well as product variety.

GaN HEMT is a gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductor device characterized by its high output power, wide band and low power consumption, which we were able to develop before the rest of the world. This product is widely used as a key device for aircraft radio, navigation system, GPS, air control radar and high definition weather radar for L, S and X-band.* We will continue contributing to safe aircraft operation by providing cutting-edge device products.

* Frequency band of microwave: L-band is used for air control radar and satellite telephone, S-band for mobile satellite broadcasts and a variety of radar types, X-band for high definition weather radar and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) installed in earth observatory satellites.

We also work with cutting tools used for aircraft manufacturing. When machining titanium alloy, which is used for aircraft bodies, unusual damage can occur to the tip of the tool due to changes of load and deposition* associated with the operation. Our RSX cutter can reduce resistance by 40% and vibration by 50% compared to our conventional tools; it also prevents unusual damage from occurring by combining the main body, which achieves low resistance and vibration, and the tip, which is made of material that suppresses deposition, contributing to improvements in the machining of titanium alloy.

In recent years, composite materials including carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP), a plastic material stronger and lighter than metals such as steel and aluminum, are frequently used instead of conventional aluminum alloy to make aircraft bodies lighter. Drilling CFRP, however, makes the tip of the drill wear quickly and easily creates burrs. To solve this problem, our SDC drill realizes stable and no-burr drilling with superb cutting performance, high strength and high wear resistance of the blade tip, which is made possible by our unique diamond coating technology.
